"Marshmallow cat" would probably be greatful to be near (emphasis on near, not IN) a warm fire. Was it the same cat from the other poem? If so, you'll have to inform him/her that he/she inspired you!

Yes, it was the same cat, on the porch of a farm house I pass coming home from work.
