specters retreat behind
morning mist

in a daze--
life without taste
or smell

new diet
orange juice and chicken soup
waiting to breathe

no poems
my head is too stuffed
with crap

hot tea
after brushing teeth
not the same

after church
bamboo thicket growing
in the alley

evening falls
too late
for jasmine tea

sweet tea, bills paid
fall weather in August
life is good

restless soul
painfully restricting
bursting cocoon

today
breaks on the shore
wet sand

spiders
in the house
darkness

silently, sternly,
judging me from on high
bookshelf cat
